Lately we’ve been working hard at transforming our try=our eating. My girls will help me go through the list of before/after foods we’ve changed.
Cow’s Milk became Soy Milk became ALMOND MILK. We wonder how we drank it all of our lives. I’m so glad I don’t have to make the decision of breast feeding vs. formula because I would have to go with breast feeding!
No more white. Anything. Pasta has been the hardest to switch over because Mr. is allergic to wheat. White bread became brown rice, white potatoes became sweet potatoes, white bread and pita disappeared and we are on a hunt for 100% Whole Wheat and am looking to taste Ezekiel Bread.
Did I mention we are a family of five? Makes it tough to budget for food or eat out nowadays. Always a challenge. Water is our friend.
Slowly dropping products containing GMO products and sticking to all natural ones eliminates most junk food (as I call it). You are what you eat is true, most of these products have high fructose corn syrup and all of those ingredients and preservatives we can’t even pronounce. We try to make it from scratch. This has changed our menu a lot.
Cereals and snacks are a struggle since I have Juju in the house. He’s five and can eat non stop. He really craves sweets- mainly cereal and snacks. Shopping takes a little longer since I try and look for organic and healthier choices for chips, crackers, etc.
Smoothies are the go to breakfast. Syrup has been substituted with honey and baking is still a work in progress.
Juice! We don’t buy juice or soda since what feels like forever. Iced tea is hanging out somewhere in case company comes over 🙂 Water is our friend.
We’re incorporating cardio as part of our daily routine and will let you know how much change takes place in our home.
